A step by step approach to fitting

This procedure will take some practice, so be patient!

It is worth spending the time to go through this process and practise. After a while you will be able to fit a Rucksack in no time at all (with minimal adjustments).

  • The general rule of thumb, when fitting a Rucksack, is to ensure that the fit is as close to the body as possible.
  • The Hipbelt must sit on the hips, and not around the waist.
  • The top of the Rucksack should be positioned so that it is line with the top of your neck.
  • When fitted correctly, the Rucksack should not slip or move around, this will cause major discomfort when walking, due to the load shifting.
  1. Place the Rucksack on your back, putting your arms through the shoulder straps.
  2. Place the Hipbelt around the hips and fasten loosely do not tighten at this stage.
  3. Adjust the load bearing straps, so that the sack is in such a position, that the Hipbelt is sitting on the hips.
  4. Adjust the tension straps to bring the top of the sack in towards the back of the shoulders / neck.
  5. Tighten Hipbelt
  6. Make any further fine tuning adjustments to ensure comfort, and to make sure that the sack is secure and does not slip around.
