Help > Advice  > Which Sleeping Bag do I need?

There is no one sleeping bag that is 100% ideal for all requirements. Indiviual needs vary, as do the conditions in which the bag will be used. If, on average, you tend to feel cold more, it may be worth considering a higher rated bag. Or if you are camping in a warmer country, you might think about a lower season rating.

Features:

Hood: Can be drawn around the head and face for warmth, as agreat deal of heat is lost around the head.

Drawstring: Allows the hood to be drawn snugly around the head and face, to reduce the further loss of heat through convection.

Shoulder Baffle: Can be drwan around the shoulders, in order to retain body heat, and exclude draughts.

Zip Baffle: Reduces cold spots, which are usually present down the length of a zip.

Two-Way Zip: Can be opened at both ends to allow ease of access, and ventillationin warmer conditions. A left and right hand Mummy Bag may be zipped together to form a double.

Box Foot: This forms a spacious area at the base of the bag, which allows freedom of movement, but still retains thermal efficiency, due to the tapered design of the bag.

Fillings.

Hollofil: Each fibre has a single channel hollow core, which allows a greater capacity of air to be trapped. Lightweight maitains warmth properties when wet. Durable, giving good insulation properties over long periods of use.

MicroLoft: Developed to give maximum warmth to weight ratio performance. Used in one and two season bags, where a small pack size and low weight are important. Maintains insulating properties when wet. Quick drying, and machine washable.

Quallofil / Hollofill II: Each fibre has four microscopic hollow tubes at its centre core. Excellent warmth to weight ration. Better handling, compressibility and insulation due to the properties of the fibres. Insulates when wet, and machine washable.

Quallofill 7: As above, with 7 tubes at its core, to further reduce weight and enhance insulating properties. Very high, down-like lofting abilities. Dries three times faster than down. Soft, durable, and maitains warmth when wet or damp. Machine washable/dryable, and may be dry-cleaned.
