Gore-Tex is a thin, waterproof membrane of expanded PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), which is laminated to a variety of outer fabrics that are suitable for outdoor conditions.

“How does it work?”

For every square inch of membrane, there are over 9 billion microscopic pores.  Each pore is 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, yet 700 times larger then moisture vapour molecules.  This allows perspiration to escape and makes water penetration impossible.This allows perspiration to escape and makes water penetration impossible.
