What is a Buff?

Where did you guys get the name Buff?
Buff(r) is derived from the word 'bufanda', which means 'scarf' in Spanish.

What does the Buff logo represent?

How many ways are there to wear a Buff(r)?

Buff headwear has been used at the Olympic Games, in the Eco-Challenge Adventure Race and has toured the world with the Grundig World Mountain Bike Series. In addition, contestants on the popular television show Survivor use Buffs while they battle it out in hostile environments.

What size is a Buff?
Buff measures 20 by 9 inches when laid out flat. It weighs just less than two ounces. When folded a Buff will fit in your pocket and you'll hardly know it's there (until you need it!). One size fits most adults. Junior Buffs are for kids 7 to 12 years old.

What fabric are they made from?
Regular Buffs(r) (e.g. the Original Buff, Junior Buff, National GeographicTM) Buff are made from a 100 percent polyester microfiber, which is wind-resistant, breathable, and wicks moisture. When washed, the Buff is colorfast, dries in minutes, and retains its elasticity.

Visor(r) Buffs(r) incorporate a flexible three-inch long neoprene peak that is sewn to the seam-free microfiber (as found on a regular Original Buff product).

Polar Buffs(r) (and Junior Polar Buffs) combine the seam-free microfiber with Polartec(r)100 Classic fleece, which is stitched so as to create an additional six inches in length to the tubular garment.

Combi Buff(r) features a drawstring fastener and attractive microfiber trim along with Polartec(r) 100 Classic fleece.

How do you create a seamless fabric?
Buffs are created through a unique proprietary knitting process designed to yield a stretchy fabric tube without irritating seams. This process also allows the fabric to retain its shape without fraying, and gives a tremendous amount of strength to the finished garment.

How are the graphic images added to a Buff?
The graphics are applied to Buff headwear using a print sublimation process. This means the colors won't flake or fade over time, while the printing process itself doesn't change the microfiber's unique properties, including its soft feel.

Can I machine-wash a Buff?
Yes. However, a quick rinse with mild soap is more environmentally friendly and is all that is required. Buffs dry in minutes when hung up to air dry.

Where are they made?
Buffs are manufactured in Igualada, just outside of Barcelona, Spain. Every year millions are sold all over the globe.

Is there anything you can't do with a Buff?
Good question! Buff can be worn as a bandana, sun-guard, thermal scarf, beanie, balaclava, headband, scrunchie, wristband, helmet-liner, muffler or dust screen. When not worn as headwear, Buffs can be carried on your wrist or ankle, and they've even been used as arm and leg warmers. Nikwax TX Direct Wash-In (300ml) is a wash-in treatment that completely immerses waterproof garments ensuring that no areas are missed. It reduces the water-absorbency of the outer fabric, which improves breathability.
